Join research experts for a tour of free and low-cost sites and practical prospecting ideas that are guaranteed to help you identify funders!
We’ll start with a quick overview of prospect research and how it fits into a successful fundraising operation; provide useful, quick sources of information; discuss prospecting tips including easy data mining; and provide answers to your thorniest research questions.

Helen Brown has been a development professional since 1987. Her previous experience includes The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Albert Einstein Institution, Boston College, the Harvard School of Public Health and Northeastern University. Under her eight-year leadership as director of research at the Harvard School of Public Health, Helen's innovative prospecting strategies enabled the School to reach a $125 million goal with two years left in its capital campaign. Currently she works with a variety of clients to establish, benchmark, and re-align research departments; identify major gift prospects; and train researchers and other fundraisers through on-site and web-based training services.
Paul Dakin is a past director and president of the New England Development Research Association (NEDRA) and has been in development research since 1995. Paul has worked for Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Phillips Exeter Academy - and the Gardner Museum starting in August 2006. He has presented or facilitated sessions, workshops and forums at NEDRA, APRA, CASE and AFP over the years. In his spare time Paul can be found leading the annual pledge drive for Arlington Street Church, Boston. Paul holds a BA in English and Psychology from the University of Rochester.
Who should attend: The workshop is targeted to nonprofit organization executives, development staff, and board members.

Directions: Take Route 128 to Exit 20A (Route 1A). Take a slight right on to Route 1A N towards Hamilton. Continue to follow Route 1A for approximately 3 ½ miles and you will reach The Community House of Hamilton and Wenham at 284 Bay Road.
