F1rst Jobs Fund Grant Guidelines

The First Jobs Fund provides funding for first summer employment opportunities at nonprofit organizations for teens from nineteen North Shore communities. The program is operated by the North Shore Workforce Investment Board and the Fund is administered by ECCF. 

How it works: The North Shore Workforce Investment Board recruits and trains teens for their first summer job. First Jobs connects both local businesses and nonprofit organizations needing summer help with teens looking for employment. Nonprofits can apply for funding to support employment of teens at their agency for four to eight weeks. Potential employers then interview applicants and select the candidate best suited for the stated position. For-profit businesses can support the program by hiring a teen or donating to the Fund.

The program benefits teens by providing valuable job training, experience and income, and nonprofit organizations by covering the salary of an additional employee for the summer months.

Reporting Requirements

A Final Report, including a summary of how funds were spent, is due to the Essex County Community Foundation after the summer programs/positions have ended or by October 1st. This final report must be received in order to be eligible the following year. Final reports should be submitted through the Application Portal.
