Grant Resources
The Essex County Community Foundation's grant making services connects local nonprofit organizations with those in the community who wish to support the needs of Essex County. In 2006, ECCF distributed $1 million in grants through the following programs: (Please note that only discretionary and field of interest funds accept grant requests.)

Discretionary funds and field of interest funds
Eight grant programs support nonprofit organizations throughout Essex County. These grants are awarded by the ECCF Board of Trustees upon recommendation of specific advisory committees. Link to Types of Funds
Donor Advised Funds
Donors advise grants that are awarded by the Trustees from the many donor advised funds at ECCF. These funds provide unsolicited grants only. Many donor advised funds support Essex County nonprofit organizations. Link to Types of Funds
Scholarships
ECCF awards scholarships each spring to qualified seniors from specific local high schools in Essex County to pursue higher education. ECCF does not directly accept scholarship applications - we partner with the local schools and scholarship committees to select the recipients. Interested applicants should contact their school guidance counselor to inquire about eligibility and application procedures. Link to Types of Funds
Grants Management Committee
The Essex County Community Foundation recruits, trains and manages a Grants Management Committee to ensure that the grant dollars in our care are distributed in a professional manner. Committee members include experts in local nonprofit work, community needs and grant making. They are responsible for determining ECCF’s grant making plans and priorities. This committee, and the advisory committees formed for specific field of interest funds, donates hundreds of hours reviewing programs, conducting site visits and recommending awards.
