Grant Resources
The Essex County Community Foundation's grant making services connects local nonprofit organizations with those in the community who wish to support the needs of Essex County. In 2006, ECCF distributed $1 million in grants through the following programs: (Please note that only discretionary and field of interest funds accept grant requests.)
There are eight funds that welcome grant proposals from nonprofit organizations in Essex County. These grants are awarded by the ECCF Board of Trustees upon recommendation by grants management committees who receive the proposals and research the needs of the community.
Donor Advised Fund
These funds are set up by donors who wish to give grants to the nonprofits of their choice. These funds are not open to grant proposals.
Scholarships
ECCF awards scholarships each spring to qualified seniors from specific local high schools in Essex County to pursue higher education. ECCF does not directly accept scholarship applications - we partner with the local schools and scholarship committees to select the recipients. Interested applicants should contact their school guidance counselor to inquire about eligibility and application procedures.
Grants Management Committees
The Essex County Community Foundation recruits, trains and manages grants management committees to ensure that the grant dollars in our care are distributed in a professional manner. Committee members include experts in local nonprofit work, community needs and grant making. They are responsible for determining ECCF’s grant making plans and priorities. The committee members donate hundreds of hours reviewing programs, conducting site visits and recommending awards.
