LOCAL EDUCATION FUND MEETING
Sponsored by the ESSEX COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Wednesday, October 15, 2008
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Masconomet Regional High School, Topsfield, MA
Purpose: There is a crisis in funding for public education in Massachusetts and it is clear that tax dollars alone will not be enough to cover school district budgets in the years to come. Across Essex County dedicated parents and community members are working hard to raise private funds for public schools. Many have established education foundations in their communities. This meeting will provide an opportunity for your group to share ideas and concerns with your neighbors in surrounding communities with the goal of improving your effectiveness in raising money in your town and potentially discovering ways to collaborate between communities on joint projects.
Topics: We plan to have breakout sessions on specific topics of interest to the group. Possible topics include: board development and recruitment, fundraising, relations with schools, granting/spending, relations with other town/school organizations, and operational issues such as data base management and staffing.
Who should attend: The workshop is targeted to board members of any local education fund working in a community to raise money to support the local school district. There is no limit on the number attending from any one organization or community.
What to Bring: Please bring copies of your fund raising materials, special event announcements, by-laws and any other information which may be helpful to other education funds.
Registration: Please let us know you are coming by emailing Julie Bishop, Grants and Nonprofit Services Manager at j.bishop@eccf.org or 978-777-8876 x28. There is no fee.
