DECISION MAKING IN ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY: Developing Contingency Plans and Exploring Strategic Opportunities

Purpose: This workshop is designed to provide a step by step process in assessing the current status of your organization, how to plan for the unknown, and what actions may be taken to strengthen your organization. Workshop topics will include: what is a contingency plan; how to develop one; the roles of the management team and Board in developing a plan; and the impacts of financial scenarios. The workshop will also offer an overview of the array of strategic alliances available to nonprofits and how to begin building these connections with other important allies.

The Executive Service Corps of New England (ESC) works with nonprofit organizations to improve their effectiveness by providing affordable management consulting and related services through experienced executives and professionals who donate their time and expertise. Mike Stauff, Board Chair at ESC, is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for TranSwitch Corporation. Ron Ryan is a recently retired chief financial officer and operations chief with diverse global experience in a wide range of industries. Pam Swain has spent nearly thirty years in various areas of nonprofit administration including social services and cultural and arts organizations. Bethany Kendall is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ESC of New England
Who should attend: The workshops are targeted to development staff and board members of small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations.
